Poetry.com -- Morale Booster!!

It was one of the happy days of the High School. I had participated in a poetry competition held in the school and had scored a third position. I was elated. Till now, I thought myself to be one of those many people who can scribble something but this was different! Something clicked in my mind, may be I am a good poet.Engulfed with this new excitement, I went home and logged into the internet. As soon as I typed "poetry" in our daily life's 'Oracle'(Google)[Its suppossed to give us all the answers..right?] , the first result that came on was this beautiful site http://www.poetry.com/.

This was like a pandora box to me, my writing platform, I could express myself there. Who knows one day I will have my own book, maybe I will win some money also..and on and on...my horses of imagination didn't know where to stop.

Although I have been real lousy to keep my writings in a nice little diary, but I could find a crambled paper with some of my words in it stashed in my drawer. Like a baby who's been gifted with a new toy , this was my new toy with which I was playing with curosity and awe. I posted my first poem on poetry.com and similar to the baby who loses interest in the new toy after playing for a while, I had forgotten about it till one day. It was another beautiful summer day(just making it up, I don't even remember what season it was ..:-)) .Ok, It was another normal day when I received this mail..

"Recently, we informed you by mail that our editors have certified your poem as a semi-finalist in our International Open Poetry Contest. "

Can there be a better world? For me, No..I had just near the top of my Mount Everestt. I was given an option to submit the poem for a book .

Option? Are they kidding? Yes I want to submit my poem.

Reading on..You could buy your book for X$.

Buy? Are they out of their mind? I don't have that kind of money, I am just a student.

The Decision? I submitted the poem for the book, hoped that I will win the finals , In any case when I will have the money I will buy the book but not right now.

Years later, when I discovered that poems belonging to the genre of
"Roses are red, voilets are blue
I am sad, why aren't you"
are also considered as 'semi-finalist' , I had a mix of emotions. I surely do write better than that! and thanks to Poetry.com, I have had a good feeling about my writing all my life. So unless you don't get tempted to spend a dime on their beautiful medal honors that they try to sell you, its definitely a Morale Booster..What Say?

Scribble something on poetry.com & Be a Semi-Finalist !! How bad is that?
